Azure Blob Storage is Microsoft's cloud object storage solution optimized for storing large amounts of unstructured data such as text, images, videos, and backups. It supports three blob types—block blobs for large files, append blobs for append-only workloads, and page blobs for random read/write storage. The service offers multiple tiers (Hot, Cool, Archive) to optimize storage costs based on data access frequency. It supports lifecycle management policies to automate data tier transitions and expirations, offering features such as immutable (WORM) storage, encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access control integrated with Microsoft Entra ID, and advanced threat protection.
