About the GIMP

GIMP, which stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for tasks such as photo retouching, image composition, image authoring, and graphic design. It is often considered a powerful alternative to commercial software like Adobe Photoshop due to its extensive feature set and customization options. GIMP provides a full suite of painting tools (brush, pencil, airbrush, clone, etc.), advanced manipulation capabilities (full alpha channel support, layers, channels, multiple undo/redo, editable text layers), and transformation tools (rotate, scale, shear, flip).
