About the GPTZero

GPTZero is an artificial intelligence detection software designed to identify text generated by large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, GPT-4, Gemini, Claude, and LLaMA. Developed by Edward Tian, a Princeton University student, it was launched to address concerns about AI-generated content in academic plagiarism, hiring, and publishing. GPTZero analyzes text based on qualities like "perplexity" (how random or surprising the text is to an AI) and "burstiness" (variation in sentence structure), providing a likelihood score that content was AI-generated. It offers detailed analysis with color-coded highlighting for AI-generated and human-written sections, and provides predictions at the sentence, paragraph, and document levels. Beyond detection, GPTZero has expanded to include features like plagiarism checking, AI vocabulary analysis, authorship verification (Origin Chrome Extension to track writing process), and source/citation finding for academic integrity.
