About the Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing application developed by Microsoft. Unlike word processors like Microsoft Word, Publisher focuses on page layout and design, enabling users to create a wide array of visually rich publications for print and digital media. It is widely used by small businesses, home users, educators, and non-profit organizations to design materials such as brochures, flyers, newsletters, business cards, greeting cards, calendars, and more. Key features include a wide selection of pre-designed templates, intuitive drag-and-drop functionality for content insertion (text, images, shapes), layout guides for precise arrangement, and basic image editing capabilities. Publisher also integrates with other Microsoft Office applications, allowing users to import content from Word or Excel. Important Note: Microsoft has announced that Publisher will reach its end of life in October 2026. After this date, it will no longer be included in Microsoft 365 subscriptions, and existing perpetual (one-time purchase) versions will no longer receive support or updates. Users are advised to convert their .pub files to other formats like PDF or Word before this date.
