About the Mintty

Mintty is a free and open-source terminal emulator designed for Cygwin, the Unix-like environment for Windows. It features a native Windows user interface and offers extensive xterm compatibility. Mintty is known for its minimalist design and is used as the default terminal for both Cygwin and MSYS. It is based on parts of PuTTY's terminal emulation but improves upon it in several ways, and it does not include PuTTY's networking functionality, which is instead handled by other packages.
