Rebelle is an award-winning raster graphics editor for digital painting and drawing, developed by the Slovak company Escape Motions. It is renowned for its unique and hyper-realistic simulation of traditional art media, particularly watercolors, oils, and acrylics. Rebelle's core technology includes a fluid simulation based on Navier-Stokes equations for realistic water and paint flow, a physical pigment color mixing model (based on the Kubelka–Munk model for true-to-life color blending), and an Impasto engine for creating thick paint textures. It offers a vast array of customizable brushes, various paper and art surfaces that interact dynamically with the paint, and advanced features like NanoPixel technology (for 16x larger image export using machine learning), Fractal Image Processing (for quality preservation during transformations), Metallic Materials, and a Brush Creator.
