Autodesk ReCap (Reality Capture) is a powerful suite of software tools from Autodesk designed for converting photographs and laser scans into highly accurate 3D models and point clouds. It plays a crucial role in enabling "scan-to-BIM" (Building Information Modeling) and "scan-to-CAD" workflows, allowing designers, engineers, and construction professionals to incorporate existing conditions into their digital designs. ReCap Pro handles large-scale laser scan data, offering tools for registration, cleaning, indexing, and viewing point clouds. ReCap Photo (a service included with ReCap Pro) processes drone or UAV-captured photographs to generate geo-located textured meshes, dense point clouds, and orthophotos.
