RTranslator is an innovative, open-source, and free real-time translation application primarily designed for Android devices. Its standout feature is the "Conversation mode," which allows users to engage in natural, real-time translated conversations with multiple interlocutors. By connecting via the app, users can speak into their phone (or Bluetooth headset), have their audio converted to text, translated into the other person's language, and then converted back into audio, all in real-time and bi-directionally. It leverages powerful, almost open-source AI models like OpenAI's Whisper for speech recognition and Meta's NLLB for translation, ensuring high quality and the ability to function offline.
