About the Symmetrix
Symmetrix was a high-end enterprise data storage system designed by EMC Corporation. It was a flagship product from its launch in 1990 until it was succeeded by the DMX product line in 2003. Symmetrix arrays provided large-scale data storage and management capabilities for mission-critical applications, initially connecting to IBM mainframes and later supporting open systems via protocols like Fibre Channel. The Symmetrix family of products evolved with different generations, including the DMX and VMAX series, constantly incorporating new technologies to meet growing enterprise demands for performance, reliability, and scalability. The software layer controlling the system was called Enginuity.
